Halalalala....
I am halal cos I'm not a pig. And it's important cos I am sitting beside BB. But it's also dangerous that I'm halal cos I might get eaten up anytime since I'm halal. Heh. (More so when it's apparently my fault in enticing her to snack whilst marking!) This whole notion of halal-ism emerged when BB was offered chocs and she turned it down, claiming that it was not halal. What an excuse! It set all of us ignorant ones thinking... is chocolate halal? Does it need to have the green fire-like sign to certify its halal-ness/ halal-ity? Is cow milk halal? How about the way they handle chocolates?!

I found out from a Malay Caterer that to be Halal Certified - no pork, no alcohol, utensils cannot touch pork stuff and the way it is prepared, and other less common rules. However, some Muslims do eat products without the halal sign. For example, Prima Deli Products are not halal certified but yet I see many Malays buying from there. As long as there is no pork or alcohol they can eat. Guess it's how strict they want to be in their diet.
