Information

Unhappiness in relationships, according to Dr. Gary Chapman, is often due to the fact that we speak different love languages. Sometimes we don't understand our partner's requirements, or even our own. We all have a "love tank" that needs to be filled in order for us to express love to others, but there are different means by which our tank can be filled, and there are different ways that we can express love to others.

Heh. It's a good way to get to know yourself and whoever better.

Castle and village

8/6/06

Found my way to school today by stalking 2 gals in uniform. Good move it was, cos they led me on an interesting walk. Cross the main road, past shops and kopitiams, past carparks, in and out of a community centre, past an enclosed soccer place, past a playground, more carparks, to a road where the 'draw bridge' separated the commoner's area from the castle. Yes, to the exclusive village which will be my home for the next few years to come.

The entire feel of the place was awesome. Let me comment on the 'commoner's area' first. It's under the opposition party right, therefore it has retained its historic feel. When you walk into it, you get transported 10 years back in time, to olden Singapore. But the atmosphere is so friendly, one in which grandparents and aunties do their marketing at neightbourhood market, have breakfast with their grandchildren at the kopitiam (not S11 foodcourt kinds, but the kind where the layout is all haphazard and still contains old wooden chairs and metal tables), old men playing chess, admiring their birds in the cage, lim-ming kopi/teh/diao-her etc, ah-mas and ah-peis chatting merrily and watching over their grandchildren as they play at the playground or ride their little kiddy bikes... you get the idea. Heh. Love it. Is that why the residents of PP have continually voted for CST? I think that's what the PAP is trying to cultivate right? The friendly neighbourhood feel. But it's hard when you keep on adding high-tech stuff and upgrading and all without taking into account the emphasis on neighbourliness. At PP, one can experience the natural and relaxed environment amidst the chatty residents. It's not contrived, or forced, as in many other estates. All in all, thumbs up for the atmosphere.

Oh, another important thing... it has good food! Yummy economical beehoon, with luncheon meat and fishcake please. Heh. Followed by my favourite tau-huey, thank you very much. =)

Now for the exclusive village. Why exclusive? Cos it's enclosed by the Kallang River and the expressway. Almost inaccessible. Heh. Sense of ownership. Only those who belong can enter. Based on feeeeeliinnngg, I like it. A Christian environment, efficient staff, friendly colleagues, P and DP, cozy place to myself in the staffroom despite being directly under the air-con, nice studying school environment which promises lots of fun things as well. Hmm. I do hope I get ODAC as a CCA. I'm excited.

Another fun-filled Sunday

4/6/06

Nice badminton session where we found Meow and HF super on form, Emay jiejie frustrated by the heat, Mel the drama-queen prancing around the court and bowing when she's praised, DW the cool, calm and collected one returning difficult shots etc. Quite fun. Especially when I got to stroke and lob with K and play games. But I guess the funniest had to be when Mel came up to K and said, "It was nice thrashing you.", which made us all look up in surprise, and then the blur one quickly corrected herself and went, "Oh, it was nice thrashing others with you!" Hahaha!

Oh, and a nice surprise visit from Linda and little Z and R! Soooo cuuuute!!! Apparently Emay jiejie's memory is so good that just by glancing at photos, she can recognize faces! Such that she ended up spotting and approaching Linda and her boys even before I noticed them! Gave Linda a fright when Emay jiejie asked her if she was Linda! Haha! Must have wondered how come she was so popular! Hee. And yeah, my pretty cousin-in-law doesn't look any bit like 30! =)

The next memorable exchange of the day had to be this.
"Do you know this house?"
"Yeah, it's Meow Meow's house."
Feeling a little suspicious by then.... with the heart beating fast.
"Do you know A?"
"Oh my gosh! That's Meow Meow's brother! You know him too?? The world is so small!"

Yeah, so it turns out that coincidences DO happen! Apparently, Almo is A's good friend and K's good friend. And so Almo is the main link. My gosh, the shock it gave us! In someone's description, "Stunned".

Dinner was good too at Daffy's Cafe.
1) Korean sotong
2) Teochew steamed fish
3) Winter melon soup with 5X bak kut
4) Stir-fried vegetables
5) Baked/Roasted black sauce drumsticks

Dessert menu included jackfruit, mango, koniyaku jelly and dou hua (good for postrate, guys) but it wasn't too popular with the customers cos we were stuffed.

So now, I am tired, stuffed, satisfied and happy. Good nite, world.

Geography lunch at KFC

It was a simple lunch at JP KFC, where Auntie Wee really pissed my PinPy off by his order. Crispy chicken, don't want drumsticks, cheesefries instead of whipped potato, change of drink, etc. And later complained about the fork, chilli sauce.... you get the idea. Poor PinPy. Wished Shutch and K had joined us though... it's been ages since we all sat down for a chat.

But it was a very fun lunch, cos of the photo-taking session. Kudos for digicam!

There's still space for me!!!

Haha! And I take more than was given! *smug*

Flawless photo of the 3 of us. I thank God for the friendship between us... who would have expected it to blossom in NIE?

And that's Auntie Wee helping us to rub off the smart genes from PinPy. (Not that it worked, despite the pain...)

Ooh... and there's the classic "breast" photo, which I will load when I do get the photo. I wasn't included in the photo and so I reached over to block everyone else. Hee. But Miss Tok unexpectedly went, "Your breast!" while pointing at me. Hahahahah! It was hilarious, especially when it's from seemingly prim and proper Miss Tok. (We tok, you tok, we all tok.)

Typical Sunday

28/5/06

Today I realised that Emay jiejie is boring. Why? Cos when she carries little baby J, he falls asleep! This was after other church members carried him and played with him and he was all-smiley as usual. But when Emay jiejie carried him, he entered Slumberland in a matter of 2 minutes! Heh. No lah, it is probably due to ergonomics, the perfect fitting of the curves. =)

I also learnt that my Sunday school student, D, has changed from a somber, quiet little gal to a cheeky one. Why? Apparently I am the reason why. She learns from the best. Good for her! But next week Emay jiejie will take over for the next 2 months, and D should return to normal. Haha!

Had a lot of fun with HF as well. We went to Liang Court while it was pouring. Because her slippers were slippery (that's why they are called slippers!), I held on to her. And she pretended to be an ah-sor! She went, "Aiyoh... young people nowadays are not so kind! Nobody told me it would rain today, so I didn't bring umbrella! Thank you leh..." And when I refilled her drink later, she went, "Bu2 yao4 zai4 guan4 wo3 le4..." and pretended to be some seductive, drunk hostess. It was hilarious! And how she used her witchy accent to command Merf to come to her. Yes HF, you crack me up!

Badminton was fun, fun, fun. To see HF, Meow and Emay improve so much that they can get into formation and take more difficult shots is so heartening! And so much more exciting! Haha! Weather was good and cooling cos of the rain, so that probably affected our mood too. And the banter between WX and HF cracked us all up as well! =) Satisfying.

Finally, to have an aimless, relaxing walk around Hougang admiring mango trees with good company and learning that "polyclinic" is actually "polyclinics" was "nice, good and cute".

Nice Sunday it was.

Genting Rendezvous

25/5/06 - 27/5/06

A short getaway/escape to Genting.

Why Genting? It's near, it's cool, it's cheap! =) Like how it's "good, cute and nice"!
Yes people, I PLANNED to go Genting, and I ENDED up at Genting! *Beam* I could have ended up at Germany or something right? Haha!

I went Genting with a friend, a special friend. A casual move which turned out to be a good opportunity to kick it all off. I sincerely thank God for this chance to move a step ahead.

Anyway, deep thinking and reflection aside, here are some photos of G(ermany). Haha!

The bus was not bad, quite comf(y)table. Very spacious. Good for big fat butts. =) Was a 7-hour journey in which I spotted the Petronas Towers. ANd I must say that the suburbs of KL are really beginning to resemble Singapore! Could identify parts of Singapore there! Like Paya Lebar, Bukit Ho Swee and so on. Quite interesting to see their publc housing and out-of-town shopping malls. Nice change from the continuous palm tree scenery.

Well, we arrived at Genting. And stayed in a colourful hotel, termed Rainbow Hotel. Haha! But no, don't think too deep on "Rainbow". It's known as "First World Hotel".

First World Hotel

It's such a huge hotel that it look like a bus/train station! People moving up and down, people queueing, no personal service... To put it simply, nah, I don't like it. And to top it all off, the room was pretty squeezy, with none of the normal facilities, other than the basic beds, toilet, shower, tap, closet and a small tv. The tv didn't have cable, which upsetted me cos I wanted to watch "Spongebob Squarepants"! *pout* And their channels were really strange. You could only watch a limited number of shows (like 3), in a day, cos they repeat it 3 times throughout the day. And if you don't like it, too bad. But luckily there was "Oceans Twelve" (Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts!) that day.

K enough detail. The pigs got hungry, so in the search for food, we ended up at Coffee Terrace, which serves international buffet. There was yummy yummy grilled beef, la mian which they made on the spot, sashimi, chocolate mousse, etc etc. But all I can remember is the beef... ooh, "I feel it in my mouth..."

Buffet

Oh, the cable car. Guess how many times we took it?? SIX times! Courtesy of me! Heh. It's really really pretty! 3.4km of tropical rainforest, and you are above them. Easy canopy walk, no physical exertion at all. And you enjoy the whole scenery and weather in the comfort of a really spacious cablecar! When you look ahead, you see cablecars approaching you from the mist. And when you look to your sides, you see the peaks covered by the clouds/mist.... pretty are God's creations. If ever you go Genting, go on the cable car. I recommend it. =)

Peak

When people think of Genting, they think casino. When I think of Genting, I think of highlands... yeah, and good weather. But since there's casino, we decided to go "see see look look". I didn't like it cos I was putting myself up for second-hand smoke pollution! But it was a good eye-opener, I must say. Different tables of different games. But the amount of money exchanging hands is incredible. Poeple can just place bets of $200/$300 without much thought! *Ouch so pain* But yeah, I know these are still considered small peas. Gambling is such a bane to society! Imagine all the social, economic, psychological problems resulting from it! Temptation.

But for the fun and experience of it, we played 10 ringgit on the jackpot, and when we won 8 ringgit, we left. Haha! So kiasi.
And my gosh, plastic-ky tall, slender European gals, scantily-clothed, and of course, dancing sexily. For ah-peis. *gross*

You would expect me to go on the roller-coasters and exciting rides in the outdoor theme park right? But no, this time round I was a slacker, a nua-er. I stayed in the indoor themepark, enjoying kiddy rides, ferris wheel and bumper car! I lurrve bumper car! I think it's awesome when you are in the arena and playing with strangers. And being cheeky and bumping them and knowing that it's all in the name of fun. I made friends with this little boy, probably 6 years old. We got excited talking about which colour car we wanted and all. And just before our turn, he jumped on my feet! Cheeky little boy! Haha! And of course we had lots of fun bumping the cars! Compared to someone who preyed on innocent, vulnerable victims! *atrocious*

Now, let's come to the food part. An essential part of life. (My life at least! Hee.)

Dim sum
Hainan
Yong Peng

Yeah, so short as it was, it was fun. The walks in the nice weather, the search for food, the arcade (Photo-hunt craze!), the relaxation. I like. Heh.

Who's up for another short trip??
