Malacca we went...
Several of us (all Geographers except Mr Physicist) went to Malacca over the weekend for a short getaway. Why Malacca? Cos it's cheaper lah. Went there to eat, shop, eat, shop, eat, shop, eat... Like Hong Kong or Bangkok right? It's nothing like Hong Kong lah... You're not missing anything. Hee. But yes, just for the record... I did NOT end up at Malacca, Mongolia, Maldives, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mexico, XiaMen, ZaMbia, ZiMbabwe, SoMalia, RoMe or RoMania. Ha! *smug* (Reason being that I didn't book it!) Though I don't mind any of these countries!
So yeah, here's a photo with the blur effect for artistic purposes.
We went for the supposedly famous chicken rice balls. Nothing terrific leh... I prefer my Thomson road Kampong chicken. More fantastic. Heh. Loyalty. But with DR's infamous comment about them "Squeeeezzzinggg the balls"... I think my appetite has somewhat fled. Heh. Not long after, we proceeded for Laksa. They sell chendol there too. But I figured my tummy will probably transform into a washing machine if I were to down both the laksa and chendol down. So I thought better of it.
We also found a traditional pineapple tart bakery. It's so memorable... the first bite takes your breath away. The pastry is so fine and crusty that it falls gently off the filling when you first bite it. Then you experience the heavenly combination of the tasty sweet and sour pineapple filling coupled with the light fluffy crust that melts in your mouth almost immediately. Woooo......
There was a Geographers' Cafe there, so being Geographers, we had to at least step in and sniff sniff right? The food there sucks, don't go there. Heh. But the ambience was quite pretty.
Didn't feel like eating there cos I wanted to eat from the roadside stall... (See? So smart! Heh.) So we went downstairs to buy fried carrot cake. So authentic. I like. The first packet we bought was yummilicious! But subsequent packets got worse and worse... Haha! Probably cos the crowd grew... so the standard fell. So inconsistent. But the funny thing was, cos we were seated upstairs, Pengy jiejie and myself shouted downstairs to place our orders with the uncle... and he took our orders. So fun! I love doing impromptu things. Heh. Especially with company! =)
