My first chapalang class
I entered a class today, which was an epitome of the United Nations. It was made up of students from a minimum of 7 different classes. So yeah, it was a strange mix. But they are all united in one accord... and that is, Geography.
Ice-breaking consisted of the "Suaku Game", where I used paperclips instead of M&Ms cos... 1) No food is allowed in the classroom (not that I bothered, cos we are enclosed in an aircon room anyway! And if you know me, I don't exactly abide by ALL rules.); 2) BB advised me against it cos students might talk about it in excitement and other teachers might start to talk and point fingers at me, etc; 3) M&Ms are expensive (!) leh. Imagine me repeating the entire process for 5 classes? I might as well treat myself and someone else to a nice dinner! (Well, unless you tell me can claim under classroom expenditure lah. Heh.
Guess which is the pivotal reason for my eventual decision on 70 cents re-usable paper clips? Heh. I did my part in warning them not to eat them. And I did admit the reason why they didn't get M&Ms instead. Haha!
Eventually I did get them to sit down and do a little something for me. I wanted them to provide me with some biodata about themselves, a short description about themselves, why they took Geography as a subject and their targets (for Geog, not their love interests!). They did that pretty well and I was entertained with their write-ups, which were on obiang coloured paper (imagine shocking pink and green, though the orange was pretty attractive) which I had purchased, cut and folded nicely for them.
To wrap things up, I told them that Geog is superior and more applicable than many other subjects and assured them of the very wise choice they had made before releasing them.
And now I'm here marking, blogging and talking to my also-no-life teacher friends online, as I wait for dinner.
