Third Day of school

28/6/06

No class today. Not complaining. Hee. There was an Arts meeting, but we new teachers were called back to NIE for a small group dialogue. Can I be honest and say, "What a waste of time?" I mean, it's only been 3 days!! How much can we talk about? How much have we been given to do? How much have we been exposed to? I thought it would be something of relative importance... but it was up to us to ask questions. Huh?

The funny thing is, they grouped us Geographers with Historians, a music teacher and an Arts teacher. That's acceptable, being that we are all arty farty and funky. But why PE people? So chapalang. PE people have got this sei3 of being different. Some of them carry it too far, I think. Like they are the kings and can do anything they like. Hmmm, but to some extent I don't really blame them cos if I were a PE teacher, I would gek4 sei3 too. Hahah!

But it was fun meeting PinPy. I missed her. It was nice sitting beside her and talking rubbish again. This time with Mr C peidumama to entertain us. But too bad Pengy and Wes were not around. Or we could all talk rubbish together. Haha!

A little on the small dialogue. It brought up this issue about whether we want to subscribe and sing to the tune of Yoda school(Huang, 2006) and be explicit in whatever we do to showcase ourselves and get promoted in the process, or whether we want to stay loyal to why we entered the force in the first place. Well, not saying that being explicit is to go against our values... just whether we need to be so flamboyant about everything.

The game. The political game. To play or not to play. I don't want to play it. But by not playing it, am I already playing it?
I want to be the hermit that I was, the lone banana plantation farmer. Happy in my own world. But how possible is that?
I guess satisfaction from the force does not only come from the students. Job satisfaction covers lots of aspects. Hmm, I only pray that God will guide us young ones in the correct path, to keep our hearts and minds pure and focus on the main purpose of education.
