To Taiwan and back (Part 2)

5/9/06

Slept in till late afternoon. What piggies!
We visited Taipei 101, but didn't see the point in paying to go up the observatory. Not like it's Empire State Building or Tower of Pisa! Heh. But we did entertain ourselves with the musical fountain outside, and pretend to be rich fellas shopping at the high-class shopping mall. Cheap thrill from posing outside nicely-decorated restaurants, as you can see.

We ventured on to Xing Guang Shan Yue, a gigantic shopping mall. We went straight to the supermarket, which turned out to be a thrilling experience. It was a Japanese supermarket, so lots of little pretty things to atract our eyes.

The cakes were so pretty that my standard for pretty cakes have risen several notches.

And Kel of course had a taste of heaven. Haha!

I enjoyed a total experience of the Bibimbab on the hot stone. Thrilled, I was! =)

At Taipei 101, we entertained ourselves by just admiring the nice deco of the restaurants, cos they were just too high-class for mere teachers like us. Heh.

After pampering ourselves, we made our way to Huaxi Street Night Market. This time round, it was more happening than Shilin. I made a little comment on how we should try mango ice sometime, and we immediately ended up at a shop to feed ourselves with that! What luck!

So yeah, yummy mango ice! With evaporated milk, I think. Not too much, thank you.

And immediately after that, we had bbq cuttlefish. (Which he didn't let me eat in Malacca!)

A piggy stall.... if you can make out what these are, they are actually pigs' trotters, pigs' tails, pigs' intestines, etc. Quite pretty as a whole actually. Haha!

They had other interesting stuff to see as well, such as gigantic taiwan sausages which scare me, more intestines and stuff of course, and a whole myriad of chapalang thingy, including yucky men crowding around to purchase pornish movies. There's a snake alley which is apparently quite famous. If you know me, I am terrified of snakes. So is Kel, but the curiousity in him made him wanna look at them even more! What a terrifying experience! The whole alley was occupied by snake shops (which sell snake blood and what have you) and sex shops (selling sex toys). It was just impossible to avoid any of them! You turn away from a snake shop and you stare into a sex shop, and vice-versa. Sigh. But I did come to the conclusion that sex shops were less terrifying. Just gross. Oh, since I'm on the topic of porn, the tv channels had free porn too. Sigh. Why why why...
